President Boswell declared a quorum present and the joint
convention duly organized.
President Boswell announced that the time had arrived for the
canvass of votes for the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor at
the General Election held on November 8, 1994, and announced as teller,
on the part of the Senate, Senator Fink, and assistant tellers, Senators
Halvorson and Rensink; and as teller, on the part of the House,
Representative Dinkla, and assistant tellers, Representatives Cornelius
and Larkin.
President Boswell further announced that, in accordance with
Statute, the six tellers just named would constitute the judges of said
canvass.
The Senate stood at ease at 1:42 p.m. until the fall of the gavel.
The Senate resumed session at 2:03 p.m., President Boswell
presiding.
The returns were opened in the presence of the joint convention and
the tellers then proceeded to canvass the vote for Governor and
Lieutenant Governor of the State of Iowa, cast at the General Election
held on November 8, 1994.
Representative Siegrist moved that the joint convention recess
until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 1995.
The motion prevailed by a voice vote and the joint convention was
recessed at 2:05 p.m.
