The 1995 session of the 76th General Assembly will be interesting
for all -- minority and majority parties. I look forward to working
with everyone so that in the end, all of Iowa will be a better place to
live and grow.

TEMPORARY SECRETARY
Senator Horn moved that John F. Dwyer be appointed as temporary
Secretary of the Senate.
The motion prevailed by a voice vote and Mr. Dwyer appeared before
the rostrum and was duly sworn to the oath of office.
ADOPTION OF TEMPORARY RULES
AND TEMPORARY COMPENSATION
Senator Horn moved that the rules of the Senate and provisions for
compensation of employees adopted by the 75th General Assembly be
adopted as the temporary rules and temporary compensation provisions for
the 1995 session of the 76th General Assembly.
The motion prevailed by a voice vote.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
President Boswell announced that he had received notification from
the office of Governor Branstad of the following vacancy in the Senate
subsequent to the adjournment of the 1994 session:
District 26-Paul Pate, resignation effective December 2, 1994.
COMMITTEE ON CREDENTIALS
Senator Horn moved that a committee of five be appointed as a
committee on Credentials.
The motion prevailed by a voice vote and the Chair announced the
appointment of Senators Kibbie, Chair; Fraise, Sorensen, Hedge and
Redfern.
The Senate stood at ease at 10:25 a.m. until the fall of the gavel.
