1 2 BY HORN and RIFE
1 3 A Senate Resolution of congratulations and support for
1 4 the Iowa State Cyclones Men's Basketball Team and
1 5 the Iowa Hawkeyes Women's and Men's Basketball Teams.
1 6 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are justly proud that
1 7 the Iowa State Cyclones Men's Basketball Team and the
1 8 Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball Team have been invited
1 9 to the 1996 NCAA tournament and the Iowa Hawkeyes
1 10 Women's Basketball Team has been invited to the 1996
1 11 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the Iowa Hawkeyes Women's Team, in Head
1 13 Coach Angie Lee's inaugural season, excited Iowa fans
1 14 while compiling a 25-3 record, winning the Big Ten
1 15 regular season title outright, and being selected as
1 16 the second-seeded team in the Mideast Regional, and
1 17 will commence tournament play on Friday, March 15,
1 18 1996; and
1 19 WHEREAS, the Iowa State Cyclones Men's Team, in
1 20 Head Coach Tim Floyd's second season, greatly pleased
1 21 Iowa State fans by exceeding all expectations in
1 22 compiling a 23-8 record, winning the Big Eight
1 23 Conference Basketball Tournament, finishing second in
1 24 the regular season Big Eight conference race, and
1 25 being selected as the fifth-seeded team in the Midwest
1 26 Regional, and will commence play on Thursday, March
1 27 14, 1996; and
1 28 WHEREAS, the Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Team, in Head
1 29 Coach Tom Davis' 10th season, completed its season
1 30 with a strong finish in compiling a 22-8 record,
2 1 finishing fourth in the Big Ten conference race, and
2 2 being selected as the sixth-seeded team in the West
2 3 Regional, and will commence play on Friday, March 15,
2 4 1996; NOW THEREFORE,
2 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That Coach Angie Lee
2 6 and the Iowa Hawkeyes Women's Basketball Team be
2 7 congratulated on the success of their season and
2 8 wished the best of luck during the 1996 NCAA
2 9 tournament; and
2 10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Coach Tim Floyd and
2 11 the Iowa State Cyclones Men's Basketball Team be
2 12 congratulated on the success of their season and
2 13 wished the best of luck during the 1996 NCAA
2 14 tournament; and
2 15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Coach Tom Davis and
2 16 the Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball Team be
2 17 congratulated on the success of their season and
2 18 wished the best of luck during the 1996 NCAA
2 19 tournament.
