1 1 Section 1. There is appropriated from the general fund of
1 2 the state to the Iowa communications network fund under the
1 3 control of the Iowa telecommunications and technology
1 4 commission for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1995, and
1 5 ending June 30, 1996, the following amount, or so much thereof
1 6 as may be necessary, to be used for costs associated with Part
1 7 III connections for authorized users which are school
1 8 districts, accredited nonpublic schools, and public libraries:

1 10 The commission shall contact all qualified vendors and
1 11 notify them that such vendors will be awarded a contract for
1 12 each site for which a vendor agrees to complete the connection
1 13 related to such sites for one dollar each. The commission
1 14 shall develop a process for determining the vendor which shall
1 15 be awarded the contract should more than one qualified bidder
1 16 offer to provide the connection for the same site.
1 17 EXPLANATION
1 18 This bill appropriates $537 to the Iowa communications
1 19 network fund under the control of the Iowa telecommunications
1 20 and technology commission to be used for costs associated with
1 21 Part III connections for authorized users which are school
1 22 districts, accredited nonpublic schools, and public libraries.
1 23 The commission is to award a contract for a site to a vendor
1 24 who agrees to complete the connection related to such site for
1 25 one dollar.
