1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 483A.25 HUNTING AND FUR
1 2 HARVESTING LICENSE PREFERENCE FOR NONRESIDENTS OWNING LAND IN
1 3 THIS STATE.
1 4 When allocating hunting licenses, deer hunting licenses,
1 5 wild turkey hunting licenses, or fur harvester licenses to
1 6 nonresidents, the department shall give preference to those
1 7 nonresident applicants who own land in this state. The
1 8 preference is limited to the right to purchase a nonresident
1 9 hunting or fur harvesting license for the hunting zone in
1 10 which the nonresident's land is located before other
1 11 nonresident applicants for hunting or fur harvesting licenses
1 12 who do not own land in the hunting zone are considered.
1 13 EXPLANATION
1 14 This bill requires the department of natural resources to
1 15 give a preference in the purchase of nonresident hunting or
1 16 fur harvesting licenses to nonresidents who own land in the
1 17 state. The preference is limited to the right to purchase
1 18 nonresident hunting or fur harvesting licenses for the zone in
1 19 which the nonresident's land is located before other
1 20 nonresident applicants are considered.
