1 1 Section 1. Section 252.25, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code
1 2 1995, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 The board of supervisors of each county shall provide for
1 4 the assistance of poor persons in its county who are not
1 5 illegal aliens and who are ineligible for, or are in immediate
1 6 need and are awaiting approval and receipt of, assistance
1 7 under programs provided by state or federal law, or whose
1 8 actual needs cannot be fully met by the assistance furnished
1 9 under those programs. The county board shall establish
1 10 general rules as its members deem necessary to properly
1 11 discharge their responsibility under this section.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill exempts the boards of supervisors of each county
1 14 from providing general assistance to poor persons if the poor
1 15 persons are illegal aliens.
