1 1 Section 1. Section 8D.13, subsection 11, Code 1995, is
1 2 amended by striking the subsection and inserting in lieu
1 3 thereof the following:
1 4 11. The fees charged for use of the network shall be
1 5 established as follows:
1 6 a. Five dollars per hour for grades K-12 use of an audio
1 7 and interactive video connection used to provide classroom
1 8 instruction and teacher training.
1 9 b. For all other uses and authorized users, a fee
1 10 sufficient to pay for the ongoing operational and maintenance
1 11 costs associated with the use of the network.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides that the Iowa telecommunications and
1 14 technology commission is to establish fees for use of the
1 15 network of five dollars per hour for grades K-12 use of an
1 16 audio and interactive video connection used to provide
1 17 classroom instruction and teacher training, and for all other
1 18 uses and authorized users, fees sufficient to pay for the
1 19 ongoing operational and maintenance costs associated with the
1 20 use of the network.
