1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY HARRISON, VAN FOSSEN, MARTIN, MYERS,
1 3 JACOBS, BRADLEY, and GRUBBS
1 4 A Resolution designating motorcycle awareness month in
1 5 Iowa.
1 6 WHEREAS, the people of Iowa have an enduring regard
1 7 for the preservation of life on our highways; and
1 8 WHEREAS, motorcycle awareness days are being
1 9 observed throughout the nation; and
1 10 WHEREAS, motorcycles comprise 4.35 percent of the
1 11 registered motor vehicles in Iowa; and
1 12 WHEREAS, motorcycles are involved in 7.8 percent of
1 13 the total motor vehicle fatalities in Iowa; and
1 14 WHEREAS, motorcycle awareness month provides
1 15 citizens of Iowa an opportunity to commit themselves
1 16 to being more alert and aware of other motor vehicle
1 17 drivers and especially those operating motorcycles;
1 18 NOW THEREFORE,
1 19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 20 That May 1996 be designated as motorcycle awareness
1 21 month in Iowa, and that all Iowans are encouraged to
1 22 be conscious of other motor vehicle operators,
1 23 particularly those on motorcycles.
