  1  1    Section 1.  Section 321E.7, subsection 2, Code 1995, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    2.  Special mobile equipment, as defined in section 321.1,
  1  4 subsection 75, is not subject to the requirements for distance
  1  5 in feet between the extremes of any group of axles or the
  1  6 extreme axles of the vehicle or combination of vehicles as
  1  7 required by this chapter when being moved upon the highways,
  1  8 except the interstate road system, as defined in section
  1  9 306.3, subsection 4.  
  1 10                           EXPLANATION
  1 11    The bill expands the operation of special mobile equipment
  1 12 by striking a provision prohibiting certain special mobile
  1 13 equipment from operating on the interstate.
