1 1 Section 12. Section 262.75, Code 1995, is amended by
1 2 adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. In lieu of the payment of
1 4 monetary recompense to a cooperating teacher, the cooperating
1 5 teacher may direct that the monetary recompense be paid by the
1 6 institution directly into a scholarship fund which has been
1 7 established jointly by the board of directors of the school
1 8 district that employs the teacher and the local teachers'
1 9 association. In such cases, the cooperating teacher shall
1 10 receive neither monetary recompense nor any reduction in
1 11 tuition at the institution.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill permits a teacher who has served as a cooperating
1 14 teacher for a student teacher to direct the institution in
1 15 which the student teacher is enrolled to give the money which
1 16 would have been received for serving as a cooperating teacher
1 17 directly to a scholarship fund established by the local school
1 18 board and the local teachers' association. The cooperating
1 19 teacher choosing this option would receive no money personally
1 20 nor any reduction in tuition.
