1 1 Amend the amendment, H-3985, to Senate File 481, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 2, by inserting after line 39 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "It is the intent of the general assembly that the
1 7 state department of transportation conduct an
1 8 intermodal transportation study to analyze the
1 9 feasibility and need for additional intermodal
1 10 transportation facilities in Iowa. The study shall
1 11 include an analysis of the potential economic benefit
1 12 to affected communities. The study shall be conducted
1 13 for areas of the state located more than seventy-five
1 14 miles from existing intermodal transportation
1 15 facilities. The department shall give preference to
1 16 communities who wish to be included in the study. For
1 17 purposes of this study, "intermodal transportation
1 18 facility" means a facility that acts as an exchange
1 19 center for goods which are transferred from one
1 20 modality to another."
