1 3 #1. Page 10, by inserting after line 19 the
1 4 following:
1 5 "It is the intent of the general assembly that as a
1 6 condition of receiving the appropriation provided in
1 7 this subsection, the department of corrections shall
1 8 not permit the sale or allow the use of any tobacco
1 9 products in any correctional facility under the
1 10 department's control."
1 11 #2. Page 29, by inserting after line 15 the
1 12 following:
1 13 "Sec. . Section 356.36, unnumbered paragraph 1,
1 14 Code 1995, is amended to read as follows:
1 15 The Iowa department of corrections, in consultation
1 16 with the Iowa state sheriff's association, the Iowa
1 17 association of chiefs of police and peace officers,
1 18 the Iowa league of municipalities, and the Iowa board
1 19 of supervisors association, shall draw up minimum
1 20 standards for the regulation of jails, alternative
1 21 jails, facilities established pursuant to chapter 356A
1 22 and municipal holding facilities. The standards shall
1 23 include a prohibition on the sale and use of tobacco
1 24 products within the jails and facilities. When
1 25 completed by the department, the standards shall be
1 26 adopted as rules pursuant to chapter 17A."
