1 1 Amend the amendment, H-3498, to Senate File 266, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 15, by inserting after line 35 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "Sec. 401.
1 7 1. Notwithstanding section 8.33 and section
1 8 279.51, subsection 1, paragraph "b", for the fiscal
1 9 year ending June 30, 1995, from the funds allocated to
1 10 the child development coordinating council that would
1 11 otherwise revert to the general fund, up to $60,000
1 12 shall be transferred to the department of education
1 13 during either the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1994,
1 14 or the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1995, for the
1 15 public purpose of contracting with a statewide
1 16 nonprofit organization, within the meaning of section
1 17 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, pursuant to
1 18 subsection 3, to provide educational tutoring services
1 19 to at-risk students who are not meeting the academic
1 20 requirements of their schools.
1 21 2. Notwithstanding section 279.51, subsection 1,
1 22 paragraph "b", for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 23 1995, $60,000 shall be transferred to the department
1 24 of education for the public purpose of contracting
1 25 with a statewide nonprofit organization, within the
1 26 meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
1 27 Code, pursuant to subsection 3, to provide educational
1 28 tutoring services to at-risk students who are not
1 29 meeting the academic requirements of their schools.
1 30 3. To qualify for a contract under this section, a
1 31 statewide nonprofit organization shall have provided
1 32 educational tutoring services to not less than 1,000
1 33 students per year since calendar year 1993, at no cost
1 34 to the students; shall demonstrate accountability for
1 35 academic progress; be characterized by partnerships
1 36 with other agencies that provide services to at-risk
1 37 youth; and provide tutoring sites in rural and urban
1 38 sites."
1 39 #2. Page 20, line 11, by inserting after the
1 40 figure "11," the following: "401,".
1 41 #3. By renumbering and correcting internal
1 42 references as necessary.
