Des Moines, Iowa, Wednesday, March 19, 2003

The Senate met in regular session at 8:30 a.m., President
Pro Tempore Angelo presiding.

Prayer was offered by the Reverend Lloyd Johnston, pastor of the
First Baptist Church in Centerville, Iowa. He was the guest of
Senator Kreiman.

The Journal of Tuesday, March 18, 2003, was approved.

The Senate stood at ease at 8:40 a.m. until the fall of the gavel for
the purpose of party caucuses.

The Senate resumed session at 9:55 a.m., President Kramer
presiding.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE

Leave of absence was granted as follows:

Senator McCoy, for the day, on request of Senator Kibbie.

CONSIDERATION OF BILLS
(Regular Calendar)

Senator Iverson asked and received unanimous consent to take up
for consideration Senate Files 417 and 316.
