QUORUM CALL
A non-record roll call was requested to determine that a quorum
was present. The vote revealed fifty-eight members present, forty-
two absent.
SPECIAL PRESENTATION
Watts of Dallas introduced to the House, Jill Martin, the winner of
the Prudential Spirit of Community Award for outstanding service in
volunteering. She was accompanied by her parents, Paul and Sara
Martin, brother Kyle and friend of the family Bettie Nixon.
Jenkins of Black Hawk introduced to the House, Justin Peters,
also a winner of the Prudential Spirit of Community Award for
outstanding service in volunteering. He was accompanied by his
parents, Tony and Pat Peters.
The House rose and expressed its welcome and appreciation.
The House stood at ease at 1:14 p.m., until the fall of the gavel.
The House resumed session at 2:45 p.m., Jacobs of Polk in the
chair.
CONSIDERATION OF BILLS
Appropriations Calendar
House File 667, a bill for an act relating to and making
appropriations for health and human services to the department of
elder affairs, the Iowa department of public health, the department of
inspections and appeals, the department of human services, and the
commission of veterans affairs, and providing effective dates, was
taken up for consideration.
Heaton of Henry offered the following amendment H-1308 filed by
him and moved its adoption:

2 1. Page 4, line 34, by striking the figure "7.05"
