The House met pursuant to adjournment at 8:45 a.m., Manternach
of Jones in the chair.
Prayer was offered by the Honorable Gene Manternach, state
representative from Jones County.
The Journal of Thursday, March 13, 2003 was approved.
PETITIONS FILED
The following petitions were received and placed on file:
By Freeman of Buena Vista from two hundred forty-four
constituents of the 52nd District favoring House File 44, relating to
the restoration and maintenance of the senior living trust fund.
By Freeman of Buena Vista from two hundred seventy-three
constituents of the 52nd District favoring maintaining the Department
of Elder Affairs as a department because of the need to coordinate
service specifically for the elderly.
By Freeman of Buena Vista from two hundred forty-four
constituents of the 52nd District favoring the preservation of the area
agencies on aging because of the significant work they do at the local
level with limited funding.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 554, by committee on judiciary, a bill for an act
relating to the Iowa probate code, including provisions relating to
state inheritance, gift taxes, and trusts and including an applicability
date provision.
Read first time and referred to committee on ways and means.
