The House met pursuant to adjournment at 8:44 a.m., Speaker
Rants in the chair.
Prayer was offered by Reverend Robert Striegel, pastor of Saint
Mary of the Visitation Church, Ottumwa. He was the guest of
Representative Gaskill of Wapello County.
The Journal of Tuesday, March 4, 2003 was approved.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Leave of absence was granted as follows:
Huseman of Cherokee for the remainder of the week, on request of Speaker Rants;
Myers of Johnson on request of T. Taylor of Linn; Wise of Lee, until his arrival, on
request of Foege of Linn.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 422, by Mertz, a bill for an act authorizing the use of
investigational, experimental, new, or unconventional medical
treatment.
Read first time and referred to committee on human resources.
House File 423, by Ford, a bill for an act relating to certain
assaults using a choke hold, and providing a penalty.
Read first time and referred to committee on public safety.
House File 424, by Granzow, Whitaker, and D. Hanson, a bill for
an act prohibiting a separate tort liability claim against a county
based upon or arising out of a tort liability claim against a county or
district fair or agricultural society.
Read first time and referred to committee on judiciary.
