Senate Study Bill 3083

  1  1    Section 1.  Section 28L.1, subsection 1, Code 2003, is
  1  2 amended to read as follows:
  1  3    1.  A state interagency Missouri river authority is
  1  4 created.  The members of the authority shall include the
  1  5 governor or the governor's designee, the secretary of
  1  6 agriculture or the secretary's designee, the chairperson of
  1  7 the utilities board or the chairperson's designee, and the
  1  8 directors of the department of natural resources, the state
  1  9 department of transportation, and the department of economic
  1 10 development or the directors' designees.  The governor On a
  1 11 one-year rotating basis, the directors of all state
  1 12 departments who are members of the authority, the chairperson
  1 13 of the utilities board, and the secretary of agriculture shall
  1 14 serve as chairperson.  The director of the department of
  1 15 natural resources shall serve as the coordinator of the
  1 16 authority's activities and shall serve as chairperson in the
  1 17 absence of the governor designated chairperson.  
  1 18                           EXPLANATION
  1 19    This bill relates to the designation of the chairperson of
  1 20 the state interagency Missouri river authority.  Currently,
  1 21 the governor, who serves on the authority, is designated the
  1 22 chairperson of the authority.  The bill provides that, on a
  1 23 one-year rotating basis, the secretary of agriculture, the
  1 24 chairperson of the utilities board, and the directors of the
  1 25 department of natural resources, the state department of
  1 26 transportation, and the department of economic development
  1 27 shall serve as the chairperson of the authority.
