1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY RASMUSSEN and LALK
1 3 A Resolution honoring the Dunkerton High School Boys'
1 4 Basketball Team on their 2004 state championship.
1 5 WHEREAS, the Dunkerton High School Boys' Basketball
1 6 Team made their first appearance at the boys' state
1 7 basketball tournament this year since winning the
1 8 championship 71 years ago; and
1 9 WHEREAS, Dean Holdiman, who played center for
1 10 Dunkerton's state championship team in 1933, during
1 11 President Franklin Roosevelt's first term in office,
1 12 cheered this year's team on at the state tournament
1 13 and served as a good-luck charm; and
1 14 WHEREAS, the Dunkerton Raiders, coached by Justin
1 15 Little, went into the state tournament with a 24-1
1 16 record, and captured the 2004 Class 1-A title by
1 17 convincingly winning their three tournament games,
1 18 ending their season with a 27-1 record; and
1 19 WHEREAS, Dunkerton seniors Brian Brungard and Kyle
1 20 Kuenstling were honored by being named to the Class 1-
1 21 A All-Tournament Team; and
1 22 WHEREAS, Brian Brungard was also named to the Boys'
1 23 Class 1-A All-State Second Team; and
1 24 WHEREAS, the Boys' Team and its loyal Dunkerton
1 25 fans also won the Iowa High School Athletic
1 26 Association Board of Control's Class 1-A Sportsmanship
1 27 Award, of which they should be exceedingly proud; and
1 28 WHEREAS, by their impressive effort throughout the
1 29 basketball season and their outstanding performance at
1 30 the state tournament, the individual members of the
2 1 Dunkerton Boys' Basketball Team have demonstrated the
2 2 kind of character and competitive spirit valued by
2 3 their high school, their community, and the State of
2 4 Iowa; NOW THEREFORE,
2 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 6 That the House of Representatives congratulates the
2 7 members of the Dunkerton Boys' Basketball Team and
2 8 their coach on winning the 2004 Class 1-A State
2 9 Championship and thanks them for the honor and
2 10 recognition they have brought to their school and to
2 11 the State of Iowa; and
2 12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, an
2 13 official copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2 14 presentation to Coach Justin Little and the Dunkerton
2 15 High School Boys' Basketball Team.
