1 10 A Resolution to recognize February 12, 2003, as
1 11 City Day in the State of Iowa.
1 12 WHEREAS, Iowa has 950 cities that are called home
1 13 by more than 77 percent of Iowa's total population;
1 14 and
1 15 WHEREAS, all 150 members of the Iowa General
1 16 Assembly have one or more cities in their legislative
1 17 districts; and
1 18 WHEREAS, Iowa's 950 cities have collaborative
1 19 partners in state government and in the 99 counties on
1 20 issues ranging from airports to zoning; and
1 21 WHEREAS, the General Assembly recognizes the
1 22 critical roles that cities play in providing essential
1 23 services to their shared constituency ranging from
1 24 clean water and paved streets to public safety and
1 25 affordable housing development; and
1 26 WHEREAS, cities across Iowa and the nation are key
1 27 players in the states' economic growth programs; NOW
1 28 THEREFORE,
1 29 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 30 That the House of Representatives recognizes the day
2 1 of February 12, 2003, as City Day and invites the
2 2 citizens of Iowa to discover and honor the important
2 3 contributions made by cities throughout Iowa every
2 4 day.
