  Pro Tempore McKean presiding.

  Prayer was offered by Kari Dummermuth, Senate Page from
  Fayette County, Elgin, Iowa.

  The Journal of Monday, April 30, 2001, was approved.

  RECESS

  On motion of Senator Veenstra, the Senate recessed at 9:19 a.m.
  until the completion of a meeting of the committee on State
  Government.

  RECONVENED

  The Senate reconvened at 10:22 a.m., President Kramer presiding.

  CONSIDERATION OF BILL
  (Appropriations Calendar)

  Senator Boettger asked and received unanimous consent to take
  up for consideration House File 732.

  House File 732

  On motion of Senator Veenstra, House File 732, a bill for an act
  relating to appropriations for the department of human services and
  including other provisions and appropriations involving human
  services and health care, and providing effective dates, with report of
  committee recommending passage, was taken up for consideration.
