The House met pursuant to adjournment at 1:06 p.m., Speaker
Siegrist in the chair.
Prayer was offered by Reverend Ben Jensen, pastor of Sacred
Heart Church, Ruthven. He was the guest of Representative
Marcella Frevert of Palo Alto County.
The Journal of Friday, March 16, 2001 was approved.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Star Spangled banner was sung by House Page Joni Carroll.
She is the daughter of the Honorable Danny Carroll, state
representative from Poweshiek County.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Leave of absence was granted as follows:
Metcalf of Polk for March 19 and 20, 2001, by Barry of Harrison.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 645, by committee on judiciary, a bill for an act
providing for a study by the judicial branch concerning the
establishment of mental health courts.
Read first time and placed on the calendar.
House File 646, by committee on judiciary, a bill for an act
relating to sentences of incarceration for third or subsequent
operating while intoxicated violations.
Read first time and placed on the calendar.
