The House met pursuant to adjournment at 10:03 a.m., Speaker
Siegrist in the chair.
Prayer was offered by Reverend Ouderkirk, pastor of St. Bridget’s
Catholic Church, Postville. He is the guest of Representative Rekow
of Allamakee County.
The Journal of Friday, March 2, 2001 was approved.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by students from SE Polk Junior
High School and a poem "Our Flag" written by the students was read.
They were accompanied by their teacher, Mrs. Martinson. They were
the guests of the Honorable Geri Huser, state representative from
Polk County.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 500, by committee on commerce and regulation, a bill
for an act relating to the licensure of persons acting as insurance
producers, providing an effective date, and applying penalties.
Read first time and placed on the calendar.
House File 501, by Horbach, a bill for an act providing
magistrates who are not licensed to practice law in Iowa with the
authority to review applications for involuntary hospitalization and
applications for involuntary commitment or treatment of chronic
substance abusers and making conforming changes.
Read first time and referred to committee on judiciary.
