1 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding section 8.57, subsection 5,
1 2 paragraph "c", there is appropriated from the rebuild Iowa
1 3 infrastructure fund to the office of secretary of state for
1 4 the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2002, and ending June 30,
1 5 2003, the following amount, or so much thereof as is
1 6 necessary, to be used for the purpose designated:
1 7 To meet the requirements of matching federal funds with
1 8 state funds for the purpose of election reform:
1 9 .................................................. $ 1,000,000
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill appropriates to the office of secretary of state
1 12 $1 million from the rebuild Iowa infrastructure fund to use to
1 13 capture federal dollars for election reform should the federal
1 14 government enact legislation providing money to the states to
1 15 reform their election systems and should the federal
1 16 legislation require that the states match all or a portion of
1 17 the federal dollars provided.
