1 1 Section 1. Section 724.4, subsection 4, Code 2001, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. l. A private security officer or private
1 4 investigator, licensed under chapter 80A, who possesses a
1 5 valid professional permit to carry weapons pursuant to section
1 6 724.6.
1 7 Sec. 2. Section 724.4B, subsection 2, paragraph a, Code
1 8 2001, is amended to read as follows:
1 9 a. A person listed under section 724.4, subsection 4,
1 10 paragraphs "b" through "f" or paragraph "j" or "l".
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill exempts Iowa licensed security officers and Iowa
1 13 licensed private investigators, both of whom possess a valid
1 14 professional permit, to carry weapons, from the criminal
1 15 offenses of carrying weapons in violation of Code section
1 16 724.4 and carrying weapons on school grounds in violation of
1 17 Code section 724.4B.
