1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION
1 3 A Resolution honoring Senator Betty Soukup.
1 4 WHEREAS, Senator Betty Soukup has served as a
1 5 member of the Seventy-eighth and Seventy-ninth General
1 6 Assemblies and is retiring from legislative office
1 7 after completing one term in office as a State
1 8 Senator; and
1 9 WHEREAS, Senator Soukup's distinguished career as a
1 10 state legislator has included service as an Assistant
1 11 Minority Leader in the Seventy-ninth General Assembly;
1 12 and
1 13 WHEREAS, Senator Soukup's legislative career has
1 14 also included service as Ranking Member of the
1 15 Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee and
1 16 the Transportation, Infrastructure and Capitals
1 17 Appropriations Subcommittee; and
1 18 WHEREAS, Senator Soukup has served on several
1 19 standing committees throughout her four years of
1 20 legislative service and has been an influential and
1 21 devoted legislator in this state; and
1 22 WHEREAS, Senator Soukup has been instrumental in
1 23 the passage of legislation relating to agriculture,
1 24 rural economic development, and education; and
1 25 WHEREAS, Senator Soukup has served honorably and
1 26 has unselfishly given of her time and efforts to
1 27 further the interests of the State of Iowa and to
1 28 provide beneficial programs for the citizens of Iowa;
1 29 NOW THEREFORE,
1 30 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate pay
2 1 tribute to Senator Betty Soukup for her devoted
2 2 service to the Iowa General Assembly and the citizens
2 3 of this state and wish her the very best in the years
2 4 ahead; and
2 5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 6 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Senator
2 7 Soukup.
