  1  2                       BY  KRAMER
  1  3 A Resolution honoring Des Moines-area high school
  1  4    seniors Brandon Day, Patrick Swieskowski, and Emily
  1  5    Trump for achieving the highest possible score on the
  1  6    Scholastic Assessment Test.
  1  7    WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are gratified and
  1  8 proud that three Des Moines-area high school seniors,
  1  9 Brandon Day, Patrick Swieskowski, and Emily Trump,
  1 10 achieved the highest possible score of 1,600 on the
  1 11 Scholastic Assessment Test; and
  1 12    WHEREAS, last year only 586 out of 1.3 million
  1 13 students in the United States who took the Scholastic
  1 14 Assessment Test received a score of 1,600; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, all three students take advanced placement
  1 16 college-level courses at the Des Moines School
  1 17 District's Central Academy Talented and Gifted Program
  1 18 in addition to attending advanced-level classes at
  1 19 their own high schools; and
  1 20    WHEREAS, students from all of Des Moines' five high
  1 21 schools as well as suburban and neighboring high
  1 22 schools attend college-level courses at the Des Moines
  1 23 School District's Central Academy for part of each
  1 24 school day; and
  1 25    WHEREAS, Brandon Day, age 17, a senior at Urbandale
  1 26 High School, and the son of Dan and Linda Young, plans
  1 27 to study engineering at Iowa State University and is
  1 28 active in Academic Decathlon and other knowledge quiz
  1 29 activities; and
  1 30    WHEREAS, Patrick Swieskowski, age 18, a senior at
  2  1 Roosevelt High School, and the son of David and Dianne
  2  2 Swieskowski is interested in studying computer science
  2  3 and has been accepted at Harvard University, is
  2  4 currently taking a class at Drake University, and
  2  5 enjoys mountain biking, computer programming, and
  2  6 debate; and
  2  7    WHEREAS, Emily Trump, age 17, a senior at Hoover
  2  8 High School, and the daughter of Richard and Patricia
  2  9 Trump, plans to study psychology and is active in
  2 10 choir, piano, and church youth group; NOW THEREFORE,
  2 11    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  2 12 congratulates Brandon Day, Patrick Swieskowski, and
  2 13 Emily Trump on their achievement of the highest
  2 14 possible score of 1,600 on the Scholastic Assessment
  2 15 Test and wishes them every success in all of their
  2 16 future endeavors.
  2 17    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
  2 18 Secretary of the Senate shall prepare a copy of this
  2 19 Resolution for presentation to Brandon Day, Patrick
  2 20 Swieskowski, and Emily Trump.
