  1  9 A Resolution congratulating the Iowa State Cyclones
  1 10    Women's Basketball Team and Coach Bill Fennelly.
  1 11    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Cyclones Women's Basketball
  1 12 Team posted its fifth consecutive 20-win season this
  1 13 year; and
  1 14    WHEREAS, Iowa State senior Angie Welle was named
  1 15 second-team All-American by The Associated Press; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, Iowa State senior Angie Welle led the Big
  1 17 12 conference this year in scoring, rebounding, and
  1 18 field-goal percentage, is a finalist for the Naismith
  1 19 Player of the Year and ESPN Magazine Center of the
  1 20 Year awards, and is the first three-time All-American
  1 21 in Iowa State women's basketball history; and
  1 22    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Women's Basketball Team has
  1 23 five of the top 10 attendance records for the NCAA
  1 24 Midwest Region first-round games and the top four
  1 25 crowds for second-round contests; and
  1 26    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Women's Basketball Team's
  1 27 offense is powered by Tracy Gahan, Angie Welle, and
  1 28 Lindsey Wilson, who have all scored over 1,000 points
  1 29 during their careers at Iowa State and have earned Big
  1 30 12 Player Conference Player of the Week and academic
  2  1 all-league recognition this year;
  2  2    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Women's Basketball Team
  2  3 ranks first in the Big 12 Conference with an average
  2  4 of 8.1 three-pointers per game; and
  2  5    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Women's Basketball Team has
  2  6 been a ranked team in The Associated Press national
  2  7 poll for more than three years, including 22 weeks in
  2  8 the top ten and including a number 4 ranking in the
  2  9 December 31, 2001, poll, the highest ranking ever
  2 10 achieved by the team; and
  2 11    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Women's Basketball Team's
  2 12 senior class has advanced to three consecutive NCAA
  2 13 Sweet Sixteen appearances, including an Elite Eight
  2 14 berth in 1999 and has a four-year record of 102 wins
  2 15 and 28 losses with 57 wins and 4 losses on their home
  2 16 court in Hilton Coliseum; and
  2 17    WHEREAS, the Iowa State Women's Basketball Team, in
  2 18 its sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Midwest
  2 19 Region First Round, won their first-round NCAA
  2 20 Tournament game against Temple on March 16; NOW
  2 21 THEREFORE,
  2 22    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  2 23 congratulates the Iowa State Cyclones Women's
  2 24 Basketball Team and Coach Bill Fennelly on another
  2 25 successful season, thanks them for being such fine
  2 26 representatives of Iowa State University and the State
  2 27 of Iowa, and wishes them the very best in all their
  2 28 future endeavors.
  2 29    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
  2 30 Secretary of the Senate shall prepare a copy of this
  3  1 Resolution for presentation to Coach Bill Fennelly and
  3  2 the Iowa State Cyclones Women's Basketball Team.
