  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  280.13C  STATE FUNDING FOR
  1  2 ATHLETIC ORGANIZATIONS – RESTRICTION.
  1  3    A public school district or nonpublic school shall not
  1  4 expend moneys originating from the state to pay dues or
  1  5 membership fees to more than one athletic organization, as the
  1  6 term "organization" is defined in section 280.13.  
  1  7                           EXPLANATION
  1  8    This bill prohibits a school district or accredited
  1  9 nonpublic school from spending state moneys to pay membership
  1 10 dues or fees to more than one athletic organization that
  1 11 sponsors or administers extracurricular interscholastic
  1 12 athletic contests or competitions among more than 24 schools.
