1 4 AUTHORIZING THE STATE BOARD OF REGENTS TO ISSUE BONDS TO
1 5 CONSTRUCT, IMPROVE, REMODEL, REPAIR, FURNISH, AND EQUIP
1 6 INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT FACILITIES AND PATIENT CARE
1 7 FACILITIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA HOSPITALS AND CLINICS.

1 9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 11 Section 1. LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS. The general assembly
1 12 finds that the hospitals at the state university of Iowa are
1 13 inadequate to meet present and future demands for statewide
1 14 specialty care, modern and emerging technology, and teaching
1 15 services.
1 16 Sec. 2. BONDS AUTHORIZED.
1 17 1. The state board of regents is authorized to issue bonds
1 18 as provided in chapter 263A in an amount not exceeding one
1 19 hundred million dollars, except as provided in subsection 2.
1 20 The bonds may be issued at such times and in such amounts as
1 21 determined by the state board of regents. Bond proceeds shall
1 22 be used to construct, improve, remodel, repair, furnish, and
1 23 equip inpatient and outpatient facilities and patient care
1 24 facilities, including facilities for image-guided radiation
1 25 therapy services and mechanical and other supporting
1 26 facilities at the university of Iowa hospitals and clinics.
1 27 2. Notwithstanding the limitation established in
1 28 subsection 1, the amount of bonds issued as authorized in
1 29 subsection 1 may be exceeded by the amount the state board of
1 30 regents determines to be necessary to capitalize bond reserves
1 31 and issuance costs.
