  1  4 RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF A DR. NORMAN E. BORLAUG WORLD
  1  5    FOOD PRIZE DAY.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

  1  9    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  1C.12  DR. NORMAN E. BORLAUG
  1 10 WORLD FOOD PRIZE DAY.
  1 11    The governor of this state is hereby authorized and
  1 12 requested to issue annually a proclamation designating the
  1 13 sixteenth day of October as Dr. Norman E. Borlaug World Food
  1 14 Prize Day and to encourage all governmental entities, civic
  1 15 organizations, schools, and institutions of higher education
  1 16 in the state to observe the day in a manner that emphasizes
  1 17 the meaning and importance of the work, accomplishments, and
  1 18 heroic contributions to humanity of nobel peace prize laureate
  1 19 Dr. Norman E. Borlaug and to give attention and support to the
  1 20 programs and activities of the world food prize which was
  1 21 inspired and created by Dr. Norman E. Borlaug to alleviate
  1 22 poverty, hunger, and malnutrition throughout the world.
