PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 257.6, subsection 3, unnumbered 1 2 paragraph 1, Code Supplement 2001, is amended to read as 1 3 follows: 1 4 A school district shall determine its additional enrollment 1 5 because of special education, as defined in this section, by 1 6NovemberDecember 1 of each year and shall certify its 1 7 additional enrollment because of special education to the 1 8 department of education byNovemberDecember 15 of each year, 1 9 and the department shall promptly forward the information to 1 10 the department of management. 1 11 Sec. 2. Section 257.6, subsection 5, unnumbered paragraph 1 12 1, Code Supplement 2001, is amended to read as follows: 1 13 Weighted enrollment is the budget enrollment plus the 1 14 district's additional enrollment because of special education 1 15 calculated byNovemberDecember 1 of the base year plus 1 16 additional pupils added due to the application of the 1 17 supplementary weighting. 1 18 EXPLANATION 1 19 This bill provides for a change in the date by which a 1 20 school district's additional enrollment because of special 1 21 education is annually determined and certified. The bill 1 22 provides that the additional enrollment because of special 1 23 education shall be determined by December 1 annually, and 1 24 certified to the department of education by December 15 1 25 annually. The change to December 1 and 15 would return these 1 26 dates to those in effect prior to the 2001 legislative 1 27 session. Legislation passed during the 2001 legislative 1 28 session changed the annual special education determination and 1 29 certification dates from December 1 and 15, to November 1 and 1 30 15, respectively. 1 31 LSB 5029SS 79 1 32 rn/cf/24
