1 1 Section 1. Section 97B.1A, subsection 20, Code 2001, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. e. For a vested or retired member who has
1 4 one or more full calendar years of covered wages, active duty
1 5 service in the armed forces of the United States, upon
1 6 submitting verification of the dates of the active duty
1 7 service, for up to a maximum of two years of such active duty
1 8 service.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill provides that a vested or retired member of the
1 11 Iowa public employees' retirement system (IPERS) can receive
1 12 up to two years of service credit under IPERS for active duty
1 13 service in the military upon submitting verification of such
1 14 service.
