  1  4 RELATING TO REMOVAL OF COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISOR APPOINTEES.

  1  6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  7 
  1  8    Section 1.  Section 331.321, subsection 3, Code 2001, is
  1  9 amended to read as follows:
  1 10    3.  Except as otherwise provided by state law, a person
  1 11 appointed to a county office as provided in subsection 1 may
  1 12 be removed by the officer or body making the appointment, but
  1 13 the removal shall be board by written order.  The order shall
  1 14 give the reasons and be filed in the office of the auditor,
  1 15 and a copy shall be sent by certified mail to the person
  1 16 removed who, upon request filed with the auditor within thirty
  1 17 days of the date of mailing the copy, shall be granted a
  1 18 public hearing before the board on all issues connected with
  1 19 the removal.  The hearing shall be held within thirty days of
  1 20 the date the request is filed, unless the person removed
  1 21 requests a later date.
