1 1 Section 1. JUDICIAL HOSPITALIZATION REFEREES. There is
1 2 appropriated from the general fund of the state to the
1 3 judicial branch for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2001,
1 4 and ending July 1, 2002, the following amount, or so much
1 5 thereof as is necessary, for the purpose designated:
1 6 For compensation of judicial hospitalization referees
1 7 appointed pursuant to section 229.21:
1 8 .................................................. $ 160,000
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill makes an appropriation from the general fund of
1 11 the state for the 2001-2002 fiscal year to the judicial branch
1 12 to pay the compensation of judicial hospitalization referees
1 13 appointed pursuant to Code section 229.21. A judicial
1 14 hospitalization referee hears applications for involuntary
1 15 hospitalizations of a person with a mental illness or with a
1 16 chronic substance abuse problem.
