PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 22.7, subsection 18, unnumbered 1 2 paragraph 1, Code 2001, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 Communications not required by law, rule,orprocedure, or 1 4 contract that are made to a government body or to any of its 1 5 employees by identified persons outside of government, to the 1 6 extent that the government body receiving those communications 1 7 from such persons outside of government could reasonably 1 8 believe that those persons would be discouraged from making 1 9 them to that government body if they were available for 1 10 general public examination. As used in this subsection, 1 11 "persons outside of government" does not include persons or 1 12 employees of persons who are communicating with respect to a 1 13 consulting or contractual relationship with a government body 1 14 or who are communicating with a government body with whom an 1 15 arrangement for compensation exists. Notwithstanding this 1 16 provision: 1 17 EXPLANATION 1 18 This bill amends Code section 22.7 of the public records 1 19 law to provide that communications to a government body or 1 20 government employee by a person outside government regarding a 1 21 consulting or contractual relationship or an arrangement for 1 22 compensation are not confidential records. 1 23 LSB 2044SS 79 1 24 av/pj/5
