1 1 Section 1. Section 309.40, Code 2001, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. This section does not apply to
1 4 bridge construction work and materials for a project
1 5 designated by the board of supervisors to be completed by
1 6 regularly employed county road personnel using county
1 7 equipment if the project is within the capability of the
1 8 county road personnel as determined by the county engineer.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill exempts bridge construction work and materials
1 11 for a project estimated to cost more than $50,000 from public
1 12 bid letting requirements if the board of supervisors selects
1 13 the project for completion by regularly employed county
1 14 personnel using county equipment and if the county engineer
1 15 determines that the project is within the capabilities of the
1 16 county personnel and equipment.
