1 2 BY KRAMER, IVERSON, McKEAN, VEENSTRA, BOETTGER,
1 3 BARTZ, JOHNSON, McKINLEY, KING, MILLER, McKIBBEN,
1 4 GASKILL, TINSMAN, McLAREN, BEHN, GREINER, RITTMER,
1 5 DRAKE, ZIEMAN, REDWINE, SCHUERER, MADDOX, FREEMAN,
1 6 LAMBERTI, LUNDBY, ANGELO, and REHBERG
1 7 (COMPANION TO LSB 2733HH BY SIEVERS)
1 8 A Concurrent Resolution requesting the congressional
1 9 delegation of the state of Iowa support President Bush's tax
1 10 relief proposal.
1 11 WHEREAS, federal taxes are the highest they have
1 12 ever been during peacetime; and
1 13 WHEREAS, all taxpayers should be allowed to keep
1 14 more of their own money; and
1 15 WHEREAS, the best way to encourage economic growth
1 16 is to cut marginal tax rates across all tax brackets;
1 17 and
1 18 WHEREAS, under current tax law, low-income workers
1 19 often pay the highest marginal rates; and
1 20 WHEREAS, President Bush's tax relief plan will
1 21 contribute to raising the standard of living for all
1 22 Americans; and
1 23 WHEREAS, President Bush's tax relief plan will
1 24 increase access to the middle class for hard-working
1 25 families, treat all middle class families more fairly,
1 26 encourage entrepreneurship and growth, and promote
1 27 charitable giving and education; and
1 28 WHEREAS, under President Bush's tax relief plan,
1 29 the largest percentage reductions will go to the
1 30 lowest-income earners; NOW THEREFORE,
2 1 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF
2 2 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, That the General Assembly
2 3 urges Iowa's elected Senators and Representatives in
2 4 the United States Congress to support and work to pass
2 5 the tax relief plan introduced by President Bush.
2 6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon passage, copies
2 7 of this Resolution shall be sent by the Secretary of
2 8 the Senate to Senator Charles E. Grassley, Senator Tom
2 9 Harkin, Representative Jim Leach, Representative Jim
2 10 Nussle, Representative Leonard Boswell, Representative
2 11 Greg Ganske, and Representative Tom Latham.
