  1  1    Amend Senate File 2267 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, line 5, by striking the words "may
  1  3 from time to time" and inserting the following:
  1  4 "shall, beginning in the year 2002 and at least every
  1  5 ten years thereafter,".
  1  6    #2.  Page 1, line 7, by inserting after the word
  1  7 "composition" the following:  "or the total number".
  1  8    #3.  Page 1, line 13, by inserting after the word
  1  9 "districts," the following:  "which may include
  1 10 expanding or contracting the total number of judicial
  1 11 districts,".
  1 12    #4.  Page 1, line 14, by striking the word
  1 13 "January" and inserting the following:  "November".
  1 14    #5.  Page 1, line 17, by inserting after the word
  1 15 "assembly" the following:  "amends the plan and".
  1 16    #6.  Page 1, by inserting after line 23 the
  1 17 following:
  1 18    "4.  It is the intent of the general assembly that
  1 19 the supreme court prior to developing a plan pursuant
  1 20 to this section consult with and receive input from
  1 21 members of the public, attorneys, court employees,
  1 22 judges, members of the general assembly, county
  1 23 officers, and officials from other interested
  1 24 political subdivisions.  In submitting a plan pursuant
  1 25 to this section, the supreme court shall also submit
  1 26 to the general assembly a report stating the reasons
  1 27 for developing the plan and describing in detail the
  1 28 process used in developing the plan."
