  1  1    Amend House File 2139, as passed by the House, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by inserting before line 1 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Section 1.  Section 261.17, subsections 1 and 2,
  1  6 Code Supplement 2001, are amended to read as follows:
  1  7    1.  A vocational-technical tuition grant may be
  1  8 awarded to any resident of Iowa who is admitted and in
  1  9 attendance as a full-time or part-time student in a
  1 10 vocational-technical or career option program at a
  1 11 community college or at an accredited private
  1 12 institution, as defined in section 261.9, in the
  1 13 state, and who establishes financial need.
  1 14    2.  All classes, including liberal arts classes,
  1 15 identified by the community college or accredited
  1 16 private institution as required for completion of the
  1 17 student's vocational-technical or career option
  1 18 program shall be considered a part of the student's
  1 19 vocational-technical or career option program for the
  1 20 purpose of determining the student's eligibility for a
  1 21 grant.  Notwithstanding subsection 3, if a student is
  1 22 making satisfactory academic progress but the student
  1 23 cannot complete a vocational-technical or career
  1 24 option program in the time frame allowed for a student
  1 25 to receive a vocational-technical tuition grant as
  1 26 provided in subsection 3 because additional classes
  1 27 are required to complete the program, the student may
  1 28 continue to receive a vocational-technical tuition
  1 29 grant for not more than one additional enrollment
  1 30 period."
  1 31    #2.  Page 1, by inserting after line 6 the
  1 32 following:
  1 33    "Sec.    .  Section 261.17, subsection 7, paragraph
  1 34 a, Code Supplement 2001, is amended to read as
  1 35 follows:
  1 36    a.  Provide application forms for distribution to
  1 37 students by Iowa high schools, and community colleges,
  1 38 and accredited private institutions."
  1 39    #3.  Title page, line 1, by striking the words "to
  1 40 increase the" and inserting the following:  "relating
  1 41 to the recipients and".
  1 42    #4.  By renumbering as necessary.
