  1  1    Amend House File 725, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 4, by inserting after line 29, the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "As a condition of the appropriation provided in
  1  6 this subsection, the department shall establish the
  1  7 amount of the handling fee as provided in section
  1  8 455C.2.  The amount of the handling fee shall be one
  1  9 and one-half cents per container for the fiscal year
  1 10 beginning July 1, 2001, and ending June 30, 2002.  The
  1 11 amount of the handling fee shall be two cents per
  1 12 container for each subsequent fiscal year."
  1 13    #2.  Page 14, by inserting after line 26, the
  1 14 following:
  1 15    "Sec.    .  Section 455C.2, subsection 2, Code
  1 16 2001, is amended to read as follows:
  1 17    2.  In addition to the refund value provided in
  1 18 subsection 1 of this section, a dealer, or person
  1 19 operating a redemption center who redeems empty
  1 20 beverage containers or a dealer agent shall be
  1 21 reimbursed a handling fee by the distributor required
  1 22 to accept the empty beverage containers for an amount
  1 23 which is one cent per container shall be established
  1 24 by the department of natural resources.  A dealer,
  1 25 dealer agent, or person operating a redemption center
  1 26 may compact empty metal beverage containers with the
  1 27 approval of the distributor required to accept the
  1 28 containers."
