  1  1    Amend House File 502, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 2, by inserting after line 3, the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "   .  "Biotechnological system or technique" means
  1  6 a process used to alter the genetic characteristics of
  1  7 a plant by modifying the deoxyribonucleic acid of the
  1  8 plant's seed in a manner other than by breeding or
  1  9 pollination."
  1 10    #2.  Page 4, by striking line 19, and inserting the
  1 11 following:
  1 12    "1.  A person shall not".
  1 13    #3.  Page 4, line 22, by inserting after the words
  1 14 "crop operation property" the following:  ", without
  1 15 the consent of the owner".
  1 16    #4.  Page 4, line 25, by inserting after the word
  1 17 "property" the following:  ", without the consent of
  1 18 the owner".
  1 19    #5.  Page 4, line 26, by inserting after the word
  1 20 "property," the following:  "without the consent of
  1 21 the owner,".
  1 22    #6.  Page 5, by inserting after line 12, the
  1 23 following:
  1 24    "d.  Produce a crop originating from agricultural
  1 25 seed that has been genetically modified using a
  1 26 biotechnological system or technique by planting the
  1 27 seed within five hundred feet from a neighboring crop
  1 28 operation property used to produce a crop originating
  1 29 from agricultural seed that has not been so
  1 30 genetically modified."
  1 31    #7.  Page 6, by inserting after line 30, the
  1 32 following:
  1 33    "4A.  A person who produces a crop originating from
  1 34 agricultural seed that has been genetically modified
  1 35 in violation of subsection 1, paragraph "d", is guilty
  1 36 of a serious misdemeanor."
  1 37    #8.  By renumbering as necessary.
