1 2 #1. Page 2, line 7, by inserting after the word
1 3 "The" the following: "state board shall approve not
1 4 more than five pilot charter school applications.
1 5 The".
1 6 #2. Page 3, by striking lines 6 and 7 and
1 7 inserting the following: "school. The sponsor shall
1 8 provide for an election for".
1 9 #3. Page 3, by inserting after line 27 the
1 10 following:
1 11 "___. Notwithstanding subsection 1, a sponsor that
1 12 wishes to operate a charter school within the
1 13 boundaries of a school district shall apply to that
1 14 district's school board for approval. If the school
1 15 board denies the application, the decision of the
1 16 school board is final and not subject to review by any
1 17 court or agency. A school board seeking to sponsor a
1 18 charter school within its own boundaries is exempt
1 19 from this subsection."
1 20 #4. By striking page 3, line 32 through page 4,
1 21 line 1 and inserting the following: "not to sponsor a
1 22 charter school, the decision of the school board is
1 23 final and not subject to review by any court or
1 24 agency."
1 25 #5. Page 5, line 2, by inserting after the word
1 26 "chapters" the following: "256B,".
1 27 #6. Page 5, by striking lines 6 through 9 and
1 28 inserting the following: "did not operate under a
1 29 charter. A pilot charter".
1 30 #7. Page 7, lines 9 and 10, by striking the words
1 31 "and public transportation".
1 32 #8. Page 7, by inserting after line 19 the
1 33 following: "o. The means, costs, and plan for
1 34 providing transportation for students attending the
1 35 pilot charter school."
1 36 #9. Page 7, by striking lines 26 through 33 and
1 37 inserting the following: "decision in a timely
1 38 manner, the failure to notify shall be deemed a
1 39 denial, and the decision of the school board to deny
1 40 approval is final and not subject to review by any
1 41 court or agency."
1 42 #10. Page 14, line 16, by inserting before the
1 43 word "for" the following: "and any moneys available
1 44 to the district for each child attending the pilot
1 45 charter school who requires special education, by
1 46 application of the special education weighting plan in
1 47 section 256B.9,".
1 48 #11. Page 15, by striking lines 2 through 5 and
1 49 inserting the following: "taxation. Except as
1 50 provided in section 256F.5, subsection 1, paragraph
2 1 "f", a pilot charter school shall not levy taxes or
2 2 issue bonds for any purpose. The operation".
