  1  1    Amend Senate File 342 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting before line 1, the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Section 1.  Section 49.64, Code 2001, is amended
  1  5 to read as follows:
  1  6    49.64  NUMBER OF BALLOTS DELIVERED.
  1  7    The commissioner shall cause ballots of the kind to
  1  8 be voted in each precinct, to be delivered deliver to
  1  9 the precinct election officials as follows:  in
  1 10 general elections which are presidential elections
  1 11 seventy-five ballots for every fifty votes, or
  1 12 fraction thereof, cast in said precinct at the last
  1 13 preceding general election which was also a
  1 14 presidential election; and in general elections which
  1 15 are not presidential elections, seventy-five ballots
  1 16 for every fifty votes, or fraction thereof, cast
  1 17 therein at the last preceding general election which
  1 18 was not a presidential election a sufficient number of
  1 19 ballots of each kind to be voted in the precinct.  In
  1 20 determining the number of ballots, the commissioner
  1 21 shall take into consideration the number of active and
  1 22 inactive registered voters in the precinct, the number
  1 23 of people who voted in the precinct in previous
  1 24 similar elections, the number of contested and
  1 25 uncontested races on the ballot, public measures
  1 26 appearing on the ballot, and the local political
  1 27 conditions that may affect participation in the
  1 28 election."
  1 29    #2.  Title page, line 1, by inserting before the
  1 30 word "requiring" the following:  "relating to the
  1 31 conduct of elections by determining the number of
  1 32 ballots to be delivered to polling places for primary
  1 33 and general elections and by".
  1 34    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
