PAG LIN 1 1 Amend Senate File 342 as follows: 1 2 #1. Page 1, by inserting after line 7, the 1 3 following: 1 4 "Sec. 100. Section 50.9, Code 2001, is amended to 1 5 read as follows: 1 6 50.9 RETURN OF BALLOTS NOT VOTED. 1 7 Ballots not voted, or spoiled by voters while 1 8 attempting to vote, shall be returned by the precinct 1 9 election officials to the commissioner, and a receipt 1 10 taken for the ballots. The ballots for a federal 1 11 office shall be preserved for twenty-two months 1 12 followingelections for federal offices and for six1 13months following elections for all other officesthe 1 14 election. The ballots for elections for all other 1 15 offices shall not be destroyed until the day following 1 16 the final day to contest the election, or the day 1 17 after final determination of any pending contest of 1 18 the election, whichever is later. 1 19 Sec. . APPLICABILITY. Section 100 of this Act 1 20 applies to elections occurring on or after the 1 21 effective date of this Act." 1 22 #2. Title page, line 1 by inserting after the word 1 23 "Act" the following: "relating to the conduct of 1 24 elections by providing for the destruction of ballots 1 25 not voted and including an applicability provision, 1 26 and". 1 27 #3.
