  1  1    Amend Senate File 165 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 22 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Under the minimum educational program for grades
  1  5 nine through twelve specified in section 256.11,
  1  6 subsection 5, paragraph "c", all students shall
  1  7 complete a minimum of two units of the English
  1  8 language, including one-half unit of the history and
  1  9 evolution of the English language from old English to
  1 10 American English."
