1 2 BY FOEGE, SHEY, LARSON, HEATON, HORBACH, LENSING,
1 3 D. TAYLOR, BODDICKER, MYERS, MASHER, T. TAYLOR, ELGIN,
1 4 BRAUNS, DE BOEF, MANTERNACH, and TYRRELL
1 5 A Resolution honoring the Kirkwood Community College
1 6 Women's Basketball Team.
1 7 WHEREAS, the fans of the Kirkwood Community College
1 8 Eagles and the citizens of Iowa are greatly pleased
1 9 that the Kirkwood Women's Basketball Team had a
1 10 spectacular regular season leading to its capture of
1 11 the National Junior College Athletic Association
1 12 (NJCAA) Region XI Basketball Championship; and
1 13 WHEREAS, the Kirkwood Women's Basketball Team made
1 14 its fans and all Iowans proud by also advancing to and
1 15 winning the NJCAA Division II National Championship on
1 16 March 23, 2002; and
1 17 WHEREAS, the Kirkwood Community College Women's
1 18 Basketball Team proved its strength and resiliency by
1 19 consistently overcoming point deficits, solid offense,
1 20 and tough defensive play throughout its regular season
1 21 and the national tournament; and
1 22 WHEREAS, individual athletes on the team have been
1 23 honored by being named NJCAA National Tournament Most
1 24 Valuable Player as well as being named to the All-
1 25 Tournament Team, All-Region Team, and All-Region
1 26 Second Team, and have received Honorable Mention for
1 27 the All-Region Team; and
1 28 WHEREAS, the national tournament crown is the
1 29 second for Eagles Head Coach Kim Muhl, who was also
1 30 awarded his second NJCAA Division II National Coach of
2 1 the Year award; NOW THEREFORE,
2 2 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 3 That the House of Representatives congratulates Coach
2 4 Kim Muhl and the Kirkwood Community College Women's
2 5 Basketball Team on their successful season and thanks
2 6 them for the honor and excitement they brought to the
2 7 State of Iowa.
2 8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the
2 9 Chief Clerk of the House shall cause an enrolled copy
2 10 of this Resolution to be prepared for presentation to
2 11 Coach Kim Muhl and the Kirkwood Community College
2 12 Women's Basketball Team.
