Connors 1 20 for his thirty years of legislative service. 1 21 WHEREAS, Representative John H. Connors has 1 22 completed 30 continuous years of service as a member 1 23 of the Iowa House of Representatives, and has served 1 24 as a leader or committee chairman for 24 of those 30 1 25 years, having served as Speaker Pro Tempore for the 1 26 Seventieth, Seventy-first, Seventy-second, Seventy- 1 27 third, and Seventy-fourth General Assemblies, as an 1 28 Assistant Minority Leader for the Sixty-ninth, 1 29 Seventy-fifth, Seventy-sixth, Seventy-seventh, and 1 30 Seventy-eighth General Assemblies; and as Chairman of 2 1 the Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations for 2 2 the Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh General Assemblies; 2 3 and 2 4 WHEREAS, Representative Connors has honorably 2 5 served as the Chairman of the Midwestern Legislative 2 6 Conference of the Council of State Governments in both 2 7 1987 and 1994; as National Chairman of the Council of 2 8 State Governments in 1992; and as a long-time member 2 9 of the National Governing Board and Midwestern and 2 10 National Executive Committees of the Council of State 2 11 Governments; and 2 12 WHEREAS, Representative Connors has served as 2 13 President of the Pioneer Lawmakers Association of Iowa 2 14 which honors long-serving, past and present members of 2 15 the Iowa General Assembly and other important persons 2 16 involved in the legislative process; and 2 17 WHEREAS, Representative Connors, in his service in 2 18 the Iowa General Assembly and his Council of State 2 19 Governments service, has diligently and unselfishly 2 20 given of his time, talents, and efforts to further the 2 21 interests of the State of Iowa and to provide 2 22 beneficial programs for the citizens of Iowa; and 2 23 WHEREAS, his service to the State of Iowa has been 2 24 enabled and enhanced by the loyal and loving support 2 25 of his wife, Marge; and 2 26 WHEREAS, it is proper that Representative Connors 2 27 be honored for his many years of service to the State 2 28 of Iowa; NOW THEREFORE, 2 29 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 2 30 That the House of Representatives pay tribute to 3 1 Representative John H. Connors and express its 3 2 gratitude to him for his 30 years of devoted service 3 3 to the House of Representatives; and 3 4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the 3 5 House of Representatives be directed to present to 3 6 Representative Connors an official copy of this 3 7 Resolution as a symbol of the House of 3 8 Representatives' appreciation for his many years of 3 9 dedicated service to the Iowa General Assembly. 3 10 LSB 5500YH 79 3 11 rj/cls/14
