1 2 BY HOFFMAN
1 3 A House Resolution congratulating Ms. Carissa Meadows
1 4 for receiving a 2002 Prudential Spirit of Community
1 5 Award.
1 6 WHEREAS, Ms. Carissa Meadows, an esteemed resident
1 7 of Onawa, Iowa, and a senior at West Monona High
1 8 School, has achieved national recognition for
1 9 exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2002
1 10 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
1 11 WHEREAS, this prestigious award, presented by
1 12 Prudential Financial in partnership with the National
1 13 Association of Secondary School Principals, honors
1 14 young volunteers across America who have demonstrated
1 15 an extraordinary commitment to serving their
1 16 communities; and
1 17 WHEREAS, Ms. Meadows earned this award by giving
1 18 generously of her time and energy by cochairing a park
1 19 renovation project through her 4-H club that raised
1 20 more than $93,000 to purchase new playground equipment
1 21 and revitalize two city parks; and
1 22 WHEREAS, the future of the State of Iowa, the
1 23 strength of our communities, and the overall vitality
1 24 of American society depend, in great measure, upon the
1 25 dedication of young people like Ms. Meadows who use
1 26 their considerable talents and resources to serve
1 27 others; NOW THEREFORE,
1 28 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 29 That the House of Representatives hereby congratulates
1 30 and honors Ms. Carissa Meadows as a recipient of a
2 1 2002 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, recognizes
2 2 her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer
2 3 leadership, and community spirit, and extends best
2 4 wishes for her continued success and happiness.
2 5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 6 this Resolution be prepared for presentation to Ms.
2 7 Carissa Meadows.
