1 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY WARNSTADT, RANTS, HOFFMAN, KLEMME, KETTERING,
1 3 HOVERSTEN, and HUSEMAN
1 4 A Resolution recognizing Don "Skip" Meisner upon his
1 5 retirement.
1 6 WHEREAS, Don "Skip" Meisner graduated from South
1 7 Sioux City High School and received his Bachelor of
1 8 Science Degree from Morningside College and his
1 9 Master's Degree from the University of South Dakota,
1 10 and graduated from the Northwestern University Traffic
1 11 Engineering Institute, and had training in
1 12 cryptography from the United States Army Signal Corps,
1 13 and in housing development finance from the national
1 14 Development Council; and
1 15 WHEREAS, Skip Meisner served his country in the
1 16 Armed Forces, then returned to the City of Sioux City
1 17 Traffic Engineering and Planning Departments; and
1 18 WHEREAS, Skip Meisner became the Executive Director
1 19 of the Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning
1 20 Council (SIMPCO) in 1966, and has served in that
1 21 position for 36 years; and
1 22 WHEREAS, during his tenure as Executive Director of
1 23 SIMPCO, Skip has worked tirelessly to help the tri-
1 24 state region meet the area's needs relating to flood
1 25 control, housing, bridge construction, and education,
1 26 and has worked on aging issues and legislative issues;
1 27 and
1 28 WHEREAS, Skip Meisner also served on the Board of
1 29 Directors for the Sioux City Community School District
1 30 from 1978 to 1986, and chaired the Advisory Commission
2 1 on Intergovernmental Relations from 1990 to 1995, and
2 2 served on the Iowa Blue Ribbon Transportation Task
2 3 Force from 1980 to 1982; and
2 4 WHEREAS, the communities and individuals who have
2 5 been impacted by Skip's vision, dedication, and
2 6 leadership are truly grateful and appreciative; and
2 7 WHEREAS, as Skip Meisner retires, it is fitting
2 8 that he be recognized for his many years of valuable
2 9 service; NOW THEREFORE,
2 10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 11 That the House of Representatives recognizes Don
2 12 "Skip" Meisner upon his retirement, and congratulates
2 13 him for a job well done.
2 14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
2 15 Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives shall
2 16 prepare a copy of this Resolution for presentation to
2 17 Skip Meisner.
